Renovate + Expand Specialty Clinics

As a prime holder of an A/E VISN 10 IDIQ contract, Guidon Design Inc. was selected to design a 13,000 sf addition to the main ambulatory care center to expand outpatient Behavioral Health services and renovate approximately 4,500 sf of existing space for Medicine Specialty and Primary Care clinics.

Designed as a single story expansion in keeping with the campus master plan this project also improves way finding for the VAACC overall and corrects a HIPPA patient-privacy deficiency in the existing Behavioral Health waiting and check-in area. As part of this project existing Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing systems were designed for future expansion capacity in addition to project needs.  Exterior improvements associated include enhanced landscaping features, a new outdoor gathering space, and green infrastructure to address storm water runoff.

Staff security was addressed through the design of passive security features integrated in the floor plan as well as entry control, panic buttons, cameras, and security staff considerations.  Interior design improved both patient experience and safety in the new BH clinic.  The main reception area was redesigned to improve privacy, comfort, and way finding. Approximate Construction Cost: $7.8M
