Aviation Support Facility – Masterplan

CONSTRUCTION COST: $60M | SIZE: 100,000 SF 

Guidon Design was the lead designer for a military master plan for a new Army Aviation Support Facility for the Indiana National Guard. This scope includes the conceptual design for a $60M facility housing 19 UH-60 (Blackhawk) helicopters, training classrooms, maintenance hangers, offices, kitchen/dining, helicopter ramp and landing pad. The project includes developing multiple courses of action including site selection between the existing facility and a number of alternates. The project includes conducting a complete facility condition assessment of the existing 100,000ft2 readiness center and aviation support facility at Shelbyville, IN. Additional design considerations include: vehicle maintenance space, military organizational parking, anti-terrorism force protection requirements, FAA clearance, establishment of a controlled perimeter, vehicle entry, and guard house.
