Design for healthcare imaging, treatment, laboratory, and pathology spaces requires special attention to effective staff workflow, ease of access for patients, and technical code compliance. Guidon Design worked with IU Health to upgrade new Cath Lab equipment and renovate the space to provide better patient care and improve staff flow for two Cath Labs in downtown Indianapolis.
The design for the new laboratories were fit around the installation requirements of a Siemens Artist 1 Cath Lab. Coordination was done through extensive user meeting by Guidon Design, IU Health staff and Siemens reps, who to clearly detail the equipment requirements.
Guidon Design verified the existing conditions of the potential replacement locations, making note of visible conditions such as observing hidden areas and existing code violations. This also included a field inspection of existing structural support steel for medical equipment and recommendation for modifications for new medical equipment. Guidon Design prepared design plans that provided a visual understanding for IU Health. This was analyzed to assure the design complied with all applicable codes. Guidon Design was the project manager, architect, and structural engineer.
