Job Description

Seeking a full‐time position within a multi‐disciplinary architecture and engineering firm. Duties will include working with the Principal of Finance in leading the day to day/period over period accounting functions  Position includes full healthcare insurance, long‐term disability, short-term disability, profit sharing, potential bonus, and 401k plan.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from accredited institution
  • 6+ years of relevant experience in the accounting field
  • Extensive knowledge of accounting software

Skills/Qualities:

  • Understanding of accounts payable and accounts receivable functions including creating invoices, recording payments, and maintain customer and vendor files.
  • Working knowledge of project costing and ability to ensure proper cost recording to projects
  • Ability to work with project managers to make sure project setups and financial items regarding projects are handled accurately and in a timely manner
  • Full knowledge of the revenue recognition process and the GAAP based matching principle
  • Full working knowledge of checks and balances of day to day financial operations
  • Ability to show multitasking skills by switching from task to task including keeping financial records for up to 10 different companies
  • Ability to read, understand, and apply data from complex contracts
  • Knowledge of FAR(Federal Acquisition Regulation) accounting rules preferred

Responsibilities:

  • Lead Accounting team in AR/AP functions to ensure quality
  • Quality Control of day to day accounting functions
  • Ability to review timesheet entries of employees and ensuring accuracy.
  • Lead Accounting team in review of employee expense reports for accuracy and correct general ledger coding
  • Treasury management review
  • Lead month end closing processes including journal entries, revenue recognition, financial statement preparation, financial KPI dashboard preparation
  • Assist and lead Staff and Sr. Staff Accountants in their assigned duties
  • Assist Principal of Finance with year-end tax prep reports to be sent to tax accountant
  • Work with Principal of Finance to set up budgets and annual goals

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in accounting from an accredited University
2+ years of experience in the accounting profession
Proactive and assertive in problem solving
Experience managing parallel assignments
Good written, oral communications, staff management and client relationship skills
Comfortable in making group presentations
Trustworthy with confidential personnel/company information
Detail oriented

Skills / Qualities:

Understanding of accounts receivable and accounts payable processes
Knowledge of reviewing employee expense reports
Ability to assist in month end close processes
Detailed recording of cash transactions
Working knowledge of accounting software
Utilizing interpersonal communication skills (client/vendor facing coordination)
Flexibility for tasks as assigned

Responsibilities:

  • Collecting, entering, and processing of accounts receivable and accounts payable duties
  • Reviewing employee expense report for accuracy and timeliness
  • Completing tasks associated with the month end close process (journal entries, revenue recognition, projections, etc.)
  • Following up with clients on outstanding accounts receivable
  • Processing accounts payable check runs with the assistance of a Sr. Accountant

  • Establish annual education and training plans and goals for self. Work with staff development manager to implement and track performance
  • Work with department to assign and track quarterly goals
  • Maintain a positive learning atmosphere
